Dog of Honor® Weddings & Events
Northern California's dog chaperone — from aisle to overnight
Northern California, CA, California
About
Abigayle Curtis launched Dog of Honor® in 2021 after years in corporate sales left her wanting work that combined her love of connecting people with her lifelong devotion to dogs. Today she leads a growing team of wedding dog chaperones — the 'Pack' — and celebrates their 200th wedding milestone. When she's not at a wedding, you'll find her at the dog park or volunteering at animal shelters.
How It Works
On your wedding day, the Dog of Honor team arrives ready to take the lead from getting-ready photos through the ceremony aisle moment and beyond. They work alongside your photographer and videographer to capture the best angles, manage your dog's comfort in the heat or during loud moments, and chauffeur your pup safely home when the dancing starts. You'll receive a full photo and video album of your dog's day — every moment you were too busy celebrating to witness yourself.
Booking up to 1 year in advance for peak season (May–October, especially Saturdays)
Services & Capabilities
What Sets Them Apart
- Every ceremony detail is thought through from your dog's perspective — they help you pick the perfect entrance song, position your pup for the ideal aisle moment, and keep them calm throughout.
- Their team carries a pet first aid kit to every event and is fully pet CPR certified, so you can focus on your vows knowing safety is covered.
- They work directly with your photographer and videographer to get your dog in the right position for the shots you'll frame on your wall — and capture a full behind-the-scenes album just for you.
- At the end of the night, your dog gets a safe ride home so your guests can stay for cocktail hour — no one has to leave early to play dog-sitter.
- With 200+ weddings and 100+ venues across Northern California, they've seen every scenario and can recommend dog-friendly venues, logistics, and vendors before you've even booked.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why hire a chaperone for my dog when my friends/family will watch my dog?
Three good reasons: Guest Experience — let your friends and family be fully present to celebrate with you instead of managing dog duties. Safety and Comfort — the team ensures hydration, monitors for stress or anxiety, and acts as your dog's designated driver after cocktail hour. Content — they work closely with your hired photographers and videographers to pose your dog and capture frame-worthy photos, plus take their own behind-the-scenes album from your dog's POV.
When should we book you?
If you are getting married between May and October, especially on a Saturday, book up to 1 year in advance. For off-season requests, book at least six months ahead to ensure availability.
What is your service area?
The team specializes in Northern California, from Carmel and Santa Cruz, to the San Francisco Bay Area, Napa, Marin, Sacramento, Chico, and Lake Tahoe. They are also open to travelling to destination weddings or referring couples to other wedding dog attendants outside California.
Does Dog of Honor only chaperone dogs?
No — they welcome any four-legged pet, including cats, rabbits, goats, lizards, and turtles. They even have a team member with a soft spot for reptiles.
Can you care for my dog the entire weekend for a destination wedding?
Absolutely. For destination wedding weekends in Northern California, they plan fun field trips for your pup — visits to local dog boutiques, beach romps, hikes, and dog-menu dining — while you celebrate with family.
Is there an extra fee for the behind-the-scenes photos and videos you take?
No. There is no extra fee for Instagram or TikTok reels, nor for the shared album of all photos and videos captured during the day or weekend. Supporting your hired media team remains their first priority.
My venue requires all vendors to carry liability insurance. Can you provide a COI?
Yes. Dog of Honor is happy to include your venue as an additionally insured party on their insurance policy.
We don't have a confirmed venue yet. Should we wait to schedule a call?
No need to wait. The team has chaperoned at over 100 venues and can help recommend the right venue based on your desired location, weather, shade, indoor facilities, and dog-friendly policies.
Do you provide attire or accessories for my Dog of Honor?
They have a limited supply of faux floral collars, bandanas, and color-coordinated leashes, and can help you source the perfect wedding attire for your dog. They also recommend Sunny Tails leashes and harnesses (discount code: DOGOFHONOR10).
Are you hiring wedding dog attendants?
They are almost always open to adding to their pack, especially for candidates with professional dog-handling experience, strong people skills, a clean driving record, and a good eye for Insta-worthy content. DM @dogofhonor_events.
