Cathy Vaughan founded Cathy's Critter Care in 1998 and has spent nearly three decades building one of Central Texas's most trusted pet care services. A former San Antonio Zoo employee, sea lion trainer, and veterinary office assistant with a Biology degree from Texas State University, Cathy brings genuine scientific expertise to animal care — and she has mentored other pet sitters and written a book on the profession. Her team of background-checked, bonded, and insured employees shares that same commitment to excellent, personalized care.
How It Works
After you reach out, Cathy's team will schedule a meet-and-greet consultation to learn about your pet's temperament, your venue's pet policies, and your vision for their role in the wedding. On the day itself, they'll handle everything from the ceremonial entrance and photo moments through the reception — monitoring for stress, managing quiet rest periods, and ensuring perfect timing for each appearance. When the celebration ends, they can safely transport your pet home or provide overnight care while you begin your honeymoon.
Available 365 days a year including holidays. Last-minute bookings accommodated. Wedding dates book quickly, especially during peak season.

Are your pet sitters insured and bonded?
Yes, all our pet sitters are fully insured and bonded through Business Insurers of the Carolinas.
How do you ensure the safety of my pets?
Our sitters are trained in pet first aid and CPR. We also conduct thorough home checks during each visit and are always on alert for any potential hazards or health issues.
What services do you offer?
We offer visits scheduled at your preferred times from 1–4 times per day (as early as 6:30am and as late as 9:30pm), in 30, 45, or 60-minute appointments. We offer dog walking, sleepover care, live-in care, and wedding pet attendant services. We provide care to all species including dogs, cats, horses, goats, chickens, cows, farm animals, reptiles, and birds.
What is the backup plan if my pet sitter can't make a scheduled visit?
Your pet sitter always has a backup sitter available at Cathy's Critter Care. We work as a team of employees, fully bonded and insured, to cover any unforeseen emergencies.
Do you offer additional services such as dog walking or administering medication?
Yes, we provide dog walking and can administer a variety of medications including oral and topical medications, injections, and subcutaneous fluids.
